(Addis Ababa January 12, 2023) - Ethiopia and Somalia Republic signed an air transport agreement on January 9, 2023 at Skylight Hotel, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The two nations signed a similar agreement for the first time in 1988, and this current accord has taken the global aviation standards and newly implemented international procedures and innovations into consideration, it was learnt.
According to Getachew Mengiste, ECAA Director General, the new agreement signed between the two parties has multifaceted benefits, recalling that from air transport activity perspective, the previous agreement used to restrict the number of flight destinations while the newly signed one enables the airplanes of the two countries to have unlimited frequency.
Besides sticking to the global procedures, standards, and regulations issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority (ECAA) is committed to reviewing and renewing previous air transport agreements, and obeying international laws and regulations.
